The very first brushstrokes fell onto this piece of wood panel over 3 years ago! With the help of a mentor, a teacher, and a little online encouragement, a painter was borne!
I chose the lotus because painting, for me, was a new beginning…the beginning of a journey: a ripple in the pond, slowly evolving into a wave of expression through the manipulation of color and form. In paint, I have found yet another therapy to sustain this human in this life form. Gratefully, I have arms to move, and hands to hold a brush…for if I were born a snake, these art forms would look much differently.
Thank you, universe. Let us see how this lotus blooms!
