Side B

I once had a therapist tell me that our lives are like a vinyl record…sometimes a skip occurs in the music and you hear the same thing over and over again until someone comes along and bumps the player so the song can finish as it were intended to. And sometimes, we can change the grooves in the record so that it plays a different song.  I always liked that metaphor…the never-ending lifetimes of lessons, some repeating themselves until we actually catch on and do something different: bump the player or make new grooves in the vinyl.

This painting is about the metaphor of the life in the vinyl and I chose Side B because it’s usually the less popular song, though often pretty damn awesome: like choosing the road less traveled.
