Believe it or not, this is simply a photo of bathroom graffiti. There is a bar/music venue space in downtown Portland called Backspace. I was there to watch a showing of Faces in the Mirror, an independent film by Boyd Tinsley.
Who is Boyd Tinsley? He is the incredible violinist that you hear rocking with the Dave Matthews Band. And, he was there…giving everyone who wanted one: a hug. It was a beautiful experience. These weren’t superficial I-barely-know-you hugs. These were long heartfelt hey-we’re-family hugs. What should have been chaos as a famous person approached his fans was not. And in the backspace of the Backspace I found art created by everyone.
Communion, folks. It’s not just for Catholics.
